I can see your point here, there is inherent value in the opportunity to connect and communicate where we otherwise wouldn’t have such a widespread opportunity.

Perhaps “no compensation” is not correct — “largely unequal” compensation would be more accurate. I haven’t gotten into it here, but when we start considering that Facebook and other networks have repeatedly made changes to make our content less discoverable — with the offer of paying to boost posts to get in front of people who have already opted to be connected to us and our content — then we see that the value exchange is skewed.
